Activities

French Polynesia offers many and varied outdoor activities. You can explore all the islands in different ways. On land on foot, by bike, on horseback, in a 4x4. Also enjoy breathtaking views in the air, paragliding, parachuting or tourist flights over the islands and their lagoons. Finally savor the pleasures of sliding and water sports if you are attracted by the Pacific Ocean.

Excursions :

Excursions in all-terrain vehicles facilitate the exploration of the mountainous islands and the interior. Cars, scooters, fun cars and quads are also available for hire on some islands.

Canyoning :

The canyoning that progresses inland, through a whole network of caves and tunnels in the middle of lush vegetation, will offer you thrills. These explorations take place for half a day or a full day. You can follow beautiful rivers or fall waterfalls suitable for swimming.

Golf :

For golf lovers, two magnificent courses are available on Tahiti and Moorea, in the heart of an idyllic setting, between sea and mountains. Two superb 18 holes await you in the middle of a peaceful and welcoming hilly environment.

Trek :

French Polynesia can also be visited by walking because it also offers magnificent ramble trails and often overlooked viewpoints! You can explore the mountains and valleys with superb accessible viewpoints, mostly without a guide, on Tahiti and Moorea, but also on other Polynesian islands.

Most treks can be done without a guide. However, find out about the weather conditions before planning this type of activity, especially during the rainy season. The quality of the trails can then be seriously degraded.

Paragliding :

Tempted by a tandem flight over Tahiti? Ideal for discovering its steep valleys, plateaus and lagoon, paragliding is a sport accessible to all ages and does not require any particular physical condition.

Skydiving :

Jump into free fall and live an unforgettable experience while enjoying an incomparable view over the lagoons of Moorea, Bora-Bora or Tahiti. Parachute jumps are offered in tandem with a professional instructor. You can find providers on Moorea, Bora Bora and Tahiti (at sunset).

You may have the chance to observe the dolphins which come to sail in front of your jet ski and why not the humpback whales from July to October. During a break, you will enjoy a swim in the middle of an incomparable fauna and flora.

Kitesurfing :

To slide on the water in Tahiti and Her Islands, the slightest breath of wind and a little sun are a delight for kitesurfers and windsurfers. French Polynesia combines all the elements that will allow you to fully appreciate these disciplines, whatever your level. Glide leisurely along the calm, lenient waters of the lagoons, then shift into high gear to conquer the waves and jump as you please with the winds and tides; all at an ideal temperature, in the course of crystal clear warm waters and breathtaking landscapes.

Scuba diving, apnea and snorkeling :

French Polynesia is internationally renowned for the diversity of marine species that inhabit its waters. Ideal conditions are present all year round and sacred creatures of the sea are encountered there. Depicted on the bodies of Tahitians, tattoos of sharks, rays, sea turtles and other sacred creatures of the ocean which tell the history of a people defined by the marine environment. Life abounds below the surface, from turquoise to deep blue waters, you will be amazed by the diversity and intensity of marine life in Pacific waters.

Surfing – paddleboarding – bodyboarding:

Whether surfing, stand-up paddleboarding or bodyboarding, Polynesia is a paradise for surfers of all levels, whether beginners or professionals. You can surf different spots, ranging from waves on the beach to the most dizzying waves on coral reefs and passes. The island of Tahiti alone offers more than thirty surf spots, three of which are world famous: Teahupo'o, Taapuna and Mara'a. During the winter (May to November), the best waves are found on the North coast while the South coast is conducive to small waves the rest of the year.
